With the acute shortage of xanthan gum and the prohibitive high costs for the drilling companies leading to the hampering of the Drilling operations the R&D team of GDFCL has been working on a replacement product to be used as a viscosifier and rheology Modifier for drilling applications.

Xanthan Gum Substitute is a versatile rheology modifier manufactured using Polyaccharide and cellulose polymers and can be used in a wide range of Brines, is nontoxic and suitable for usage in environmentally sensitive regions, is readily dispersible and the viscosity parameters are comparable and most cost effective.

The manufacturing of the Xanthan Gum Substitute polymer was started in Feb 2021 and has been supplied to our customers in 16 countries word wide with encouraging results and in most cases has been successfully replacing or reducing the usage of Xanthan gum

The Xanthan Gum Substitute has been successfully tested in bentonite mud systems in both fresh water and salt water Mud Systems, offers higher low sheer and high rpm viscosities and higher temperature resistance and Fluid loss control.
